Bear lake Observatory

The USU-STAR's location at the Bear Lake Observatory near Garden City, UT is ideal for capturing resident space objects. The minimal light pollution and high elevation allows for very dim objects to be captured by the telescope.

The telescope is carefully maintained to ensure that space objects can be captured throughout the entire year. On the left you can see graduate student Akhter Nafi testing to make sure the telescope on the is working properly during the winter. On the right Dr. Geller and Akhter Nafi are clearning the dome after having performed some maintenance. Below Dr. Geller and members of the IT department are evaluating the computer hardware to ensure that it can handle the conditions at the BLO.
